01Overview

Colour Copy started as a delay unit inside u-he's Repro-1 synth and was developed into a standalone effect plugin. It models the warm character of classic bucket-brigade delays (BBD) and adds modern features. Its delay time can be set from one millisecond to one second or synced to your host tempo, and it can be used for everything from comb-filter and chorus effects to ping-pong delays and looper-style textures.

Best for

  • Ping-pong delays
  • Chorus and flanger effects

Colour morphing and analog character

A single Colour knob blends between five tuned macros inspired by the range of classic bucket-brigade delays, from low, slowly evolving repeats to highly resonant, screaming tones. Each colour has its own frequency bandwidth, noise and dynamic behaviour, and frequency loss over time.

The Saturation knob sets how strong those characteristics are, so you can dial the colouration back to sit better in a mix. A Brightness knob adjusts the bandwidth.

Routing, modulation and performance

Input and feedback routing can be mixed, swapped or inverted, which allows phase cancellation effects at very short delay times. The left and right output taps can be placed anywhere along the delay lines, which supports ping-pong, rushing and stereo chorus or flanger effects.

A stereo LFO from 0.05 Hz to 20 Hz can modulate rate, tap position or amplitude. A freeze button loops the delay buffer, and MIDI note tracking lets you play the delay like a mono synth, with each octave up doubling the delay rate.
