Compression Character and Detection Modes

Presswerk lets you choose between three detection topologies. Feed-forward is a modern style that tracks the input precisely. Feedback sounds looser and more musical, in the manner of classic hardware compressors. Interactive blends the two, continuously analyzing the signal and weighting each mode according to its content.

The envelope and compression curve are adjustable, including soft knee, ratio, attack and release. A dedicated Soft Clip control rolls off harsh peaks when output levels run high. Presswerk is sidechain ready, so you can use it for ducking or for keyed pumping effects.

Saturation, Phase and Mix Controls

Saturation is the main colouring tool. It can add subtle warmth and soften transients, or be pushed toward tape overdrive-style distortion. The DPR (Dual Phase Rotation) mode emulates the phase response of classic outboard gear, aiming to smooth harshness in digital recordings.

M/S mode provides more detailed stereo processing. The Mix controls blend the compressed and uncompressed signal, which the developer describes as a way to achieve a more natural result.
