Hive 2 offers two oscillators that can use standard waveforms or 2D wavetables, with up to 16x unison and tunable sub-oscillators. Wavetables can be split into up to 16 parts, creating a second dimension of scanning that can be tied to velocity or multisample layouts.

The interpolation between wavetable frames can be set to switch, crossfade, spectral or zero phase. Spectral and zero phase modes shift the phases of partials differently, while switch shows non-interpolated waveforms. Many factory wavetables are stored as scripted .uhm files rather than samples.

The 12 x 2 modulation matrix offers modifiers for curvature, rectification, quantization, sample and hold, and slew rate. Modulation sources can be assigned by drag and drop, and four user-definable XY pads give you additional control.

The eight-step shape sequencer has four independent lanes that can run at different speeds. Two function generators act as extra envelopes, gate generators, LFOs or slew limiters. Seven effects are available: distortion, chorus, delay, phaser, EQ, reverb and compressor, and they can be reordered and enabled individually.
