01Overview

Bazille is a large modular synth from u-he, built around patching. Its four digital oscillators can run FM, phase distortion and fractal resonance at the same time, so one voice can combine several synthesis methods. Four multimode filters, modelled effects and a set of signal processors give you room to route sound in ways a fixed-architecture synth does not allow. The plugin is aimed at producers who want to build their own signal paths and who are comfortable working with modular concepts.

Sound Design With Digital Oscillators and Filters

The four oscillators in Bazille can be combined through simultaneous FM, PD and FR, which opens up a wide range of timbres from one sound source. Each of the four multimode filters offers up to six parallel outputs, so a single signal can be shaped in several ways at once.

The modelled effects section includes stereo delay, distortion, phaser and spring reverb. Because these sit inside the modular signal flow, they can be patched into the sound generation chain rather than only applied at the end.

Modulation, Sequencing and Workflow

Bazille includes two LFOs with three parallel outputs each, four ADS(S)R envelope generators, and signal processors such as an inverter, rectifier, sample and hold, lag generators and a quantizer. Two mapping generators (waveshapers) come with a range of drawing tools.

An 8 x 16-step morphing sequencer and multiplex modules for mixing, ring modulation and amplitude modulation complete the routing options. The interface can be zoomed in 10% steps, and a single-page alternative skin is included for a more compact layout. Microtuning is supported through .tun files, and multichannel MIDI is available.
