Sound and Character of the Toy Piano Samples
The base instrument is a raw toy piano recording on cassette. The developer built additional variations on top of that sound, using effects such as spring reverb and granular synthesis, while aiming to keep the original character intact.
Each note was denoised with a high-quality algorithm so that playing several notes together does not stack noise. Some noise is intentionally left in the samples to avoid denoising artifacts. A separate noise knob lets you add cassette noise back in, adjust its volume independently and apply filtering to it. When you play a chord, only one noise sample is heard rather than one per voice, which the developer says makes the result more realistic.
