Sound Character and Controls

The instrument is built on a deliberate lo-fi cassette character. Each note was de-noised with a high-quality algorithm to avoid noise stacking when several notes play together. A separate noise slider lets you add cassette hiss back in, and because it is independent of the notes, you can change its volume and apply filtering to it. The developer notes that a five-voice chord then carries one noise sample rather than five stacked copies.

Everything sits on one page, including a Sample Start parameter mapped to the mod wheel, a Master Out knob, and a REV (reverse) mode. Mono mode is also included.

Playing Behavior and Use Cases

A simulated round-robin is applied so repeated notes sound less mechanical when played in fast ostinato patterns. The instrument is aimed at producers who like vintage textures and want a quick, playful tool for adding them to a track.

The developer also points to the variety of sounds available, including unusual textures, and the 30 included presets give a starting point for sound design. Update 1.1 added the Sample Start knob, a Master Out knob and improved RAM management.
