01Overview

Acid V is built for acid bass, rave-style lines and sequence-driven sound design. Arturia describes it as a circuit-based remodeling of the silver box that shaped synth bass, with added features the original never had. The plugin keeps the raw, biting character of the source while extending the voice with a second sub oscillator, vibrato and a set of modulation tools. It runs on Windows and macOS in 64-bit form.

Sound and Voice: A Bigger Take on the 303

The oscillator section offers square and triangle waveforms, plus a two-octave sub oscillator that adds weight below the core tone. Vibrato is included as a new option. Arturia's signature resonant low-pass filter shapes the voice, and a hidden hatch exposes controls for fine-tuning and customizing the analog components, so you can imitate some of the imperfections of vintage hardware.

Three multi-mode function generators provide flexible modulation, and four FX slots hold any of 17 effects. Together these let the voice move from a traditional acid bass to heavier or more experimental textures.

Sequencing and Distortion for Acid Patterns

The polymetric 64-step sequencer and arpeggiator include transmutation and scale options. Patterns can be dragged and dropped into MIDI blocks, and more than 350 sequence presets are included as starting points.

Distortion is a core part of acid sound. The built-in module offers 14 algorithms, covering styles from valve-type warmth to bit-crush grit.
