U73b Compressor: Broadcast Compressor Plugin by Audified Free Download

Audified says the plugin captures the character of the original U73b, which was built as a broadcast compressor and limiter. The emulation centers on a modelled tube circuit, intended to add analog coloration to the signal as it is compressed.

The developer describes the unit as a producer's compressor. The high-pass filter lets you switch between a vintage voicing and a modern one without low frequencies being bypassed, so you can shape the tone of the compressed signal to suit the source.

The Compressor/Limiter switch selects between Compressor, Bypass and Limiter modes. Compressor mode uses a lower threshold and a very gentle ratio, while Limiter mode uses a higher threshold and a higher ratio.

The Release Time control has three fixed positions followed by three adjustable options. IN and OUT set gain before and after the compression circuit. The Key Input control chooses the signal that drives gain reduction, and external sidechain is supported for ducking or frequency-focused control. An optional automatic output level control is also included.
