Wavefolding Sound and Character
Wavefolding differs from clipping. Instead of cutting off peaks, the signal is folded back on itself, which inverts the waveform and creates a series of peaks and valleys. This adds complex harmonics to simple waveforms.
Depending on the settings, Fold can add mild saturation that subtly colors a signal, or be pushed toward intense, aggressive distortion. The envelope follower lets the input dynamics shape the folding, so the response changes with the level of the source.
