The core of Things - Bubbles is a bank of up to 10 band-pass filters. Each band is shown as a bubble in the interface, and each one has its own resonance control, so you can tune individual frequency regions to ring or stay subtle.

Each band also has a dedicated delay with feedback. Because every band has its own delay, you can build layered echoes where different frequency areas repeat at different rates and decay times.

AudioThing says the cutoff, resonance, delay time and delay feedback can be spread across the bands. Spreading these parameters is the main way to move from simple filtering into odd echoes, reverb-like textures and irregular rhythmic patterns.

Things - Bubbles includes a preset system with a randomizer. The randomizer is useful when you want to find unexpected starting points for sound design rather than dialing in every band by hand. You can save the results you like as presets and return to them later.

The window is resizable, which makes it easier to work with many bubbles at once when you are fine-tuning individual bands.
