Freeze modes for ambient textures and frozen reverbs
The freeze module is the core of Frostbite 2. The spectral mode uses FFT to store several analysis windows in memory and replays them with randomized phases, which suits pads and soundscapes built from a source sound. The reverb mode is a classic reverb algorithm built from multiple comb and all-pass filters, and it can be set to an infinite decay, so a sound can be held indefinitely as a frozen space. The convolution mode multiplies the input with a randomly generated noise impulse of up to 60 seconds, producing a different character again.
Because all three modes can be applied to any source, the same plugin can cover drones, washes and tail-based effects without switching tools.
