Vintage Sound and DAC Modes
TAL-Sampler offers several digital-to-analog converter modes, including Emu II, AM6070, S1000, Sample Hold, Linear and Clean, meant to recall the sound of different hardware samplers. The developer says it down-samples the sample to the chosen sampling frequency, processes it according to the selected DAC, and then up-samples it to the target pitch, rather than applying simple bit crushing.
Emu II and AM6070 F modes use a steep 96dB low-pass reconstruction filter. Most DAC modes include a LEVEL slider that lowers volume and reduces sample quality, which is useful for adding grit to clean recordings. A variable sample rate adds another way to shape the character.
