01Overview

TAL-Mod is a virtual analog synth plugin from the developer TAL. TAL says its oscillator model can produce a wide range of sounds, from classic mono sounds to rich stereo leads, effects and pads. Modulation is handled with virtual patch cables: you connect a modulation output to a target and set the amount. The developer says no modular background is needed to use it.

Sound Engine and Filters

TAL-Mod has three oscillators with saw, pulse, triangle and sine waveforms, plus an additional noise oscillator with adjustable colour. Oscillators I and II can each use up to seven sound generators, which helps build stereo sounds and dense harmonics. Hard sync is available for saw, pulse and triangle waveforms on the first two oscillators.

The plugin includes two resonance filters with LP, HP, Notch, All Pass and BP modes. Filters can run in parallel or in serial, and you can choose which oscillator sources feed them. The signal path is full stereo.

Modulation and Workflow

Modulation sources include two LFOs with different waveforms, sync, trigger and unipolar modes, plus three ADSR envelopes. The modulation envelope offers spline or step mode, with trigger and host sync options. Patch cable routing makes the modulation possibilities very flexible.

TAL-Mod also includes an optional sequencer or arpeggiator, mono and polyphonic modes, and basic effects: high-pass filter, chorus, EQ, reverb and delay. It supports microtuning through file import and the MTS Client, as well as MPE and MIDI mapping.
