01Overview

TAL-Drum is a sampler for drums, short samples and loops, built around a fast, drag-and-drop workflow. The developer describes it as inspired by 80s drum samplers. Pads can be named and colored, and each pad can hold up to four mappings with velocity ranges or layering. Sample Editing, Slicing and Time Stretch

TAL-Drum lets you drag samples, pads and mappings around, and hold CTRL to copy a pad. You can select several pads or mappings with CTRL-click and edit them together.

The Slice Editor applies slices to pads with a few clicks. You can auto-slice a sample or cut it into equal slices based on a given BPM value. Several time-stretch modes are available, including Crisp and Smooth for high-quality results and a vintage AK4I Cycle mode, which suits drum loops and other samples.

Recording is built in. You can record from the main or sidechain stereo input, then truncate and normalize the result inside the plugin.

Modulation, Round Robin and Lo-Fi Character

Every mapping has one LFO, a spline envelope, an amp AHDSR and two modulation AHDSR envelopes. These sources can modulate pitch, pan, filter cutoff and other parameters.

Round robin is available in cycle and random modes, and you can apply it to two or more pads that share a MIDI note or mappings. The built-in Lo-Fi effects change the internal sample rate and bit depth in real time, which gives samples a grittier, vintage character.

The plugin supports MTS and MPE, and it can be controlled through MIDI mapping.
