01Overview

SpaceBlender is built to go beyond conventional room and hall sounds. Its algorithm lets you sculpt reverb length, shape, density and spectral evolution in unusual ways, from very short non-linear bursts to tails lasting up to a minute. Soundtoys describes it as inspired by the layered tape loops and delays of ambient pioneers. It is aimed at sound designers working on atmospheric and cinematic material, and at producers who want spatial effects that change over time on vocals, guitars or synths.

Shaping Reverb Shape, Color and Texture

The Time control sets reverb length from 100ms to one minute, and a Sync mode locks the length to your project tempo for rhythmic gated effects and loops.

The Color control moves the tail darker for lo-fi tones, or brighter over time, a behavior the developer notes conventional reverbs do not offer. The Texture control moves from smooth, lush tails to sparse, swarming repeats.

The interactive Visualizer shows the effect's shape as you play. Dragging the X/Y cursor morphs between gate, reverse, decay and bloom shapes in real time, which helps when working with long times or slow attacks.

Modulation and Freeze for Ambient Sound Design

The Mod control adds random movement inside the processing layers. At low settings the sound stays static, and higher settings add a smooth, watery motion.

Engaging Freeze feeds the output back into the effect, creating ambient loops that slowly degrade and evolve. Soundtoys positions the plugin for cinematic sound design and avant-garde work, and also for adding depth to everyday mix elements.
