SKYE Clipper (Surround): Clipper and Saturator Plugin by Signum Audio

SKYE Clipper offers hard and soft clipping, with seven clipping types to choose from. The developer says the styles can be used to control peaks, add loudness to a mix or add saturation to audio.

According to Signum Audio, its proprietary real-time anti-aliasing algorithms reduce the aliasing artifacts that clipping normally produces. The developer notes this removes the need for high upsampling ratios, which increase CPU usage.

The plugin can be used on individual sources such as a snare or synth, on buses, or on the master, where pushing the signal into clipping can emulate A-D converter clipping.

The control panel gives access to Pre-gain, Threshold, Clipping Type, Gain Link, Post-Gain and Dry-Wet Mix. Pre and post gain can be linked, and the Dry-Wet mix control makes parallel processing straightforward.

All parameters are automatable in your DAW, and holding Shift while dragging allows fine adjustment. The dynamic range used for metering can be scaled freely.

A resizable History view shows the timeline of your processing, and a full and compact view helps optimize screen space. A Preset Manager is included.

This is the Surround version of SKYE Clipper. The developer says it is compatible with up to 7.1.4 surround, including Dolby Atmos, as well as Stereo and Mono configurations.

The developer frames this around the growing use of ambisonic and immersive mixing, positioning the plugin for spatial work where clipping needs to run across multichannel signals.
