01Overview

Sick 2 is aimed at sound designers working on horror, thriller and paranormal projects. Soundiron built the library from recordings made in an abandoned naval artillery bunker and a decommissioned warship. The result is a collection of taps, stomps, footsteps, impacts, electronic voice phenomena and sound effects, arranged into one master instrument for Kontakt. It runs in the full version of Kontakt, and the included multi-layer controls let you shape each sound as you play it.

Sound Sources and Character

The library draws on two real locations. Soundiron recorded in a bunker and aboard a warship, and the material includes subterranean clanks, booms, thuds, cracks, drags and creaks. Creature howls, moans, breaths and growls sit alongside these sounds, as do hellish soundscapes, pads, drones and ambiences. Soundiron describes the electronic voice phenomena as unsettling, and some of them are based on real recordings.

The content comes in 24-bit / 48 kHz uncompressed PCM WAV samples. The master instrument bank contains 391 stereo samples, 21 ambience patches and 20 custom sound-designed FX and ambient presets, using about 671 MB of disk space.

Controls, Arpeggiator and FX Rack

The Kontakt interface offers multi-layer controls including LFO, filter, glide and arpeggiator. The LFO has selectable shapes, target parameters, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. You can choose from 12 lowpass, highpass and FX filters and assign modulation sources such as velocity, mod wheel, expression and aftertouch.

The arpeggiator includes a velocity table and controls for direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration. A key and scale lock keeps notes within chosen scales. The FX rack provides a convolution reverb with custom rooms, halls, chambers and FX environments that you can use to build atmospheric textures.
