Scene - Saffron: Lightweight Cinematic Kontakt Instrument

The XY pad is the main control in Saffron. Each corner of the pad combines the 16 hybrid sound sources, effects and sound controls in a different way, so a single movement can shift texture and character. Native Instruments positions the instrument for building tension, drama and emotion in scoring work.

The sources cover strings, synths, brass and other textures, which you can layer to create orchestral swells, shimmering pads and deep drones. The scale and mode options keep played lines in key, and a new Legato mode smooths transitions between notes.

Saffron includes 120 presets, which give you finished starting points for cinematic textures. When a preset is close but not quite right, the XY pad and sound controls let you adjust the blend without rebuilding the patch from scratch.

The randomize function generates unexpected combinations of elements. It is useful when you are stuck for ideas or want to explore a direction you would not normally reach for. Because the instrument is designed to be lightweight, it is intended for composers who want quick access to cinematic sounds.
