01Overview

Quadral is built around a four-layer morphing engine controlled by a tempo-syncable XY pad. Each axis can be assigned to a different parameter, including filters and selected FX, and the range can be limited to create new patterns of tone. The library ships with more than 200 factory presets across Arps, Basses, Leads, FX, Pads and Plucks, and a randomize function generates new starting points. The instrument runs in Kontakt on Windows and macOS.

Sound design with a four-layer morphing engine

Quadral contains 16 categories of synth pads, arps, basses, leads, plucks and FX, built from 384 stereo 24-bit 48kHz WAV samples. The central XY pad defaults to volume control between the four layers, so you can blend layers into organ-like stacks, ambient textures or evolving pads.

Rhythmic motion can be added to the XY pad, adjusting each axis in a tempo-synced way. Each axis can also be limited in range to create shifting patterns and fluctuations in tone. Soundiron describes the included Ouroboros modulation engine as the source of this movement.

Controls, FX rack and preset workflow

The multi-layer interface includes LFO, filter, glide and arpeggiator controls. A modular FX rack offers 18 DSP effect modules, including phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressors, EQ and a rotator, which can be assigned to any of 10 slots in any order.

The convolution reverb includes 99 rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments plus 40 custom FX impulses. Presets can be browsed, saved, shared and imported or exported, and the intelligent random preset generator can create new patches from the library.

What do I need to run Quadral?

Quadral requires the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.5 or later to use its .nki instrument presets. The free Kontakt Player and Add Library import processes do not support this open-format library.
