PUNISH is a dynamics and saturation effects plugin from Heavyocity that adds warmth, drive and compression to mixes and instrument tracks. It is available in VST2, AU and AAX formats for Windows and macOS.
PUNISH is an effects plugin built around five modules: compression, saturation, transient shaping, EQ and limiting. Each module can be used on its own or chained together. A global Punish Knob modulates the parameters at once, so a single control can move the sound from subtle warmth to heavy overdrive. Heavyocity models the processing on its in-house analog signal chains, and the plugin includes more than 90 presets sorted into six instrument and task categories.
The compressor offers three models. Console is a smooth, Class A-style bus compressor. Modern has an aggressive, fat sound with a classic knee. Classic is a warm vintage limiting amplifier-style unit.
The saturation module also has three models: Vintage, based on a broadcast mic-pre; Modern, a chunky harmonic saturation; and Tube, a fat tube saturation. Use it to add grit to a single track or push a full mix into overload.
Transient shaping gives control over attack, sustain and output gain, and a Hold control sets the length of the attack. The EQ module lifts high and low frequencies and can be placed before or after the compressor, saturation and transient stages.
A limiter at the end of the chain includes soft clip and release controls. The central Punish Knob can be edited with halo ranges, so one twist can move the whole chain from clean and warm to punchy and aggressive.

PUNISH is available in VST2, AU and AAX formats, and it is 64-bit.
PUNISH runs on Windows and macOS. On Mac it requires OS X 10.10 or later and is natively compatible with Apple Silicon. On Windows it requires Windows 7 or later, in both 32-bit and 64-bit.
An internet connection is required to activate the software, and a free iLok account is needed for authorization. An iLok USB dongle is not required. Compatible hosts include Pro Tools 10+, Live 9+, Cubase 8+ and Logic Pro X+.
