01Overview

Polyscape Analogue is the newest member of the Polyscape series. It is aimed at fat, raw analog-style sounds rather than the big soundscapes of its sibling, Polyscape Nova. The developer describes its sound as drawing on the styles of classic synth music, with pads, keys, leads and deep basses as the main targets. The plugin combines a four-layer synth engine, a sub layer and a set of studio-grade effects in one instrument.

Sound Design and Synth Engine

Polyscape Analogue uses four main audio layers, each with deep sound design options, plus one sub layer for low-end weight. The layers give you room to stack and shape sounds from the ground up.

The effects chain includes an analogue-modelled channel filter with LFO, an Advanced Drive section with five saturation algorithms, a Dimension Phaser, a master filter, a glue compressor and a tonal EQ. The Drive module runs from subtle warmth to crunchy overdrive.

The Echoluxe module combines reverb and delay in one unit, with an analogue-modelled delay and two reverb algorithms.

Workflow, Controls and Smart Randomizer

The controls are MIDI-learnable, so you can map the parameters you use most to your hardware. The interface is designed to be easy to use.

The Smart Randomizer offers random sound source, ADSR, delay, texture, reverb and all-parameter options. These are useful for generating starting points quickly or exploring unexpected results.

The plugin includes 100 factory presets you can load and edit as a starting point.

What do I need to use Polyscape Analogue?

You need a VST3, AU or AAX compatible 64-bit host (DAW). The developer lists Mac OS X 10.11 or higher or Windows 8 or higher, at least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended), a 2 GHz CPU with at least four cores and 0.8 GB of free disk space. It runs in any major VST, AU or AAX compatible DAW except Maschine, which is not supported.
