Sound Source and Recording Details
The sample set was captured with DPA microphones for close miking and Schoeps microphones in a medium-distance coincident pair. The recording took place at Fonoprint Studios in Bologna, Italy, a venue housed in a 15th-century convent. Fonoprint has hosted sessions for many IK sample libraries, along with Italian and international artists.
The CFIII was the first Yamaha piano to use the company's Tri-Sensor Scaled Hammer Action II mechanism, which Yamaha designed for a more realistic feel and response. Yamaha has discontinued the CFIII, so this sample set is one way to work with its sound today.
