01Overview

Paragon combines the flexibility of an algorithmic reverb with the sound of real spaces. Its re-synthesis technology lets you change the decay, room size and brightness of reverbs based on 3D recordings of real rooms, without time-stretching the impulse responses. You can also apply spectral analysis and precise EQ to the impulse responses themselves. Because it works across up to 7.1.2 channels, it suits surround mixes as well as stereo work.

Sound Control and Impulse Response Tweaking

Instead of storing an impulse response for every configuration of a space, Paragon uses a small selection of IRs and adjusts them to create many variations. The IR panel lets you EQ the reverb model and change its frequency-dependent decay rate.

The developer says the decay and room size can be set significantly longer, larger, shorter or smaller than the original space. Because the plugin does not stretch or remove samples, it avoids the artefacts that time-stretching can introduce. Spectral analysis helps you see how the impulse response is shaped.

Surround and Dolby Atmos Workflow

Paragon is built for surround applications, including Dolby Atmos bed tracks, and operates in up to 7.1.2 channels. Individually configurable crosstalk per channel controls how reverb from each channel interacts with the others, which can let you create surround reverb from mono or stereo sources.

Per-channel HPF and LPF filters and a switchable LFE give you more control over each channel's output. The developer notes that this can help dialogue intelligibility, for example by removing reverb from the centre channel while keeping the dry centre signal in other reverb channels.
