This upgrade is aimed at owners of Nectar 4 Standard who want more vocal tools. It extends the standard edition with the Auto-Level Module, Voices Module, Backer Module and an expanded Vocal Assistant. iZotope also includes thirteen component plugins that can be placed in a vocal chain or a DAW template. The package covers mixing, production and vocal design in one place, with Melodyne 5 Essential included for pitch correction.

Vocal Leveling, Harmonies and Background Singers

The Auto-Level Module works at the start of the signal chain and manages vocal levels before other processing. Tame Noise separates sung and unsung content so that only tonal elements are leveled. iZotope says the module is an alternative to traditional compressors that keeps a clean, natural sound.

The Voices Module creates vocal layers from a set of eleven auto-harmonies, and MIDI mode lets you choose the notes. The Backer Module shifts a lead vocal into eight styles to create background singers that sit behind the main track. You can also import your own acapella to shape the result.

Guided Mixing with Vocal Assistant and Dynamic EQ

Vocal Assistant offers a guided interface for EQ, intensity and width decisions, and it can match the tone of a custom reference track. Its Improved Unmask feature helps prioritize the vocal by reducing competing elements in the mix.

Nectar 4 includes two 24-band Dynamic EQs designed for vocals. Follow EQ mode tracks and removes resonances in real time, and the EQs communicate with other iZotope plug-ins in the session to address tonal balance and masking.

What do I need to use Nectar 4 Advanced Upgrade?

It is an upgrade for owners of Nectar 4 Standard. It runs as a plugin in supported hosts such as Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One, Reason, REAPER and Bitwig Studio. Activation requires internet access and either a computer-based license or an iLok USB dongle.
