01Overview

Soundiron recorded 11 antique music boxes in a range of spaces, from a dry studio to a concert hall and even underwater. The samples were then manipulated into sustains, pads and atmospheric instruments. The master preset lets you load and blend layers in real time, with control over swell, attack, release, pitch, filtering and articulation switching. The library covers the full scale, from rich bass tones to tight, percussive high notes.

Sound Character and Layers

The library starts with the raw music box sound and extends it into a wider palette. Soundiron built 32 ambience patches from the source content, along with 20 custom sound-designed FX and ambient presets. Each sound layer can be shaped directly on the front panel, so a simple music box melody and an eerie multi-layered pad can both come from the same instrument.

The samples are 24 bit / 48 kHz uncompressed PCM WAV files, with 1,689 stereo WAV files in total and about 2.24 GB installed.

Modulation, Arpeggiator and FX Rack

An adaptable LFO offers selectable shapes, modulation targets, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. You can apply one of 12 low-pass, high-pass and FX filters, with modulation assignable to velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position and step-sequencer control.

The arpeggiator has a velocity table and controls for direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration. A key and scale lock keeps notes within common scales. The modular FX rack provides 10 slots for effects in any order, and the reverb uses convolution impulse responses for rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor spaces.
