01Overview

M-Tron Mk II focuses on the rare dual-manual instruments of the 1960s rather than the chromatic sounds of the Mellotron M400. The library is built from the MkI, MkII and Chamberlin tape archive and includes 132 tape-banks, several of which were never previously released. Each bank can be retuned while keeping the host tempo, and the rhythm and accompaniment material can be mixed across different stations. Its grainy, imperfect tape character is kept intact, including the contrast between the US and UK recordings.

Authentic Tape Sounds and Rhythm Library

The plugin is built around the rhythms, accompaniments and lead sounds of the original dual-manual instruments. Its library draws on more than 4500 individual samples and over 150 patches, with both microphone and direct-recorded versions of the lead tapes included.

The developer kept the original station-based structure, where each section had its own style, key and tempo. Rhythms and accompaniments can be transposed and synced to your host tempo, and Dual Rhythm mode layers two of them to create hybrid patterns.

Tape Half Speed, Tape Reverse, Tape 2s-Rewind Time and individual key controls for tape start, detune, tape pan and key click let you shape each sound at the key level.

Playing Controls and Workflow

M-Tron Mk II offers Rhythm/Accompaniment and Lead modes, plus a Dual Rhythm/Accompaniment mode. A Parallel Trigger option lets rhythms, accompaniments or both start together when you play a key.

A Chord Finder visual aid helps you play rhythms and accompaniments that match. You can play the instrument from one 88-note keyboard or split the two manuals across two smaller keyboards. Built-in modern or spring reverb and delay are included, and key edit presets can be saved and recalled for quicker sound design.
