01Overview

Oddity3 is GForce Software's update of the Oddity synth, first released in 2002. It models the sound of the ARP Odyssey, with three authentic lowpass filter types, two syncable oscillators, a tunable sub oscillator and a ring modulator. The new version adds a Preset Browser, 250+ new presets for a total of 1250+, distortion and reverb effects, a Vintage control for analog imperfections, and four programmable Macros.

Analog Sound and Character of the Odyssey Model

Oddity3 is built around a model of the ARP Odyssey. The 4023 (12dB), 4035 (24dB) and 4075 (24dB) lowpass filters are modeled from all three original hardware versions, and a highpass filter is also included. The two oscillators can sync to each other, and a tunable sub oscillator adds low-end weight.

The authentic ring modulator and the new Distortion effect push the sound toward harsher, grittier tones. The Vintage knob adds analog-style imperfections, so the synth can move from clean pads to dirty leads without leaving the same architecture.

Modulation, Playability and Workflow

X-Modifiers give the synth extensive modulation. Each X-Modifier is an LFO or envelope that can be assigned to many parameters, which makes complex, evolving sounds possible.

Monophonic, Monophonic Legato, Duophonic and Polyphonic modes cover lead and pad playing. The new Macros, Velocity controls and Polyphonic Aftertouch add expressive control, and the interface scales to fit the screen and comes in three skins.
