01Overview

Oberheim TVS Pro recreates the Two Voice Synthesizer, the instrument that brought true duophony to synth players by pairing two SEM voices under one keyboard. GForce Software developed the plugin in collaboration with Oberheim. Each SEM is modelled with two VCOs, the Multi-Mode Filter, two ADS envelopes and an LFO, and the plugin adds a third VCO that can also act as an LFO. Built-in effects, a sequencer and a large patch library round out the instrument.

Sound and Character of the SEM Voices

Each of the two voices uses modelled SEM components, including pulse and sawtooth waveforms and the Multi-Mode Filter. GForce says the emulation keeps subtle analogue inconsistencies that give the original its character, and the duophonic design lets the two voices interact in complex, organic ways.

The plugin also adds velocity and aftertouch modulation, which the original hardware did not offer per SEM. Stereo delay, phaser and reverb are included for finishing sounds inside the plugin.

Sequencing, Patches and Workflow

A dual 16-step sequencer lets you build patterns for both voices, with undo/redo and extend and flip modes for editing. The categorised patch librarian organises more than 635 patches, including over 220 new sounds and 400 adapted SEM patches.

SEM presets can be exported to and imported from OB-E and SEM, which helps if you already have patches in those instruments.
