01Overview

Insight 2 Upgrade from Insight 1 is a discounted route for existing Insight 1 owners to move to the second version of iZotope's metering tool. Insight 2 is built around customizable real-time meters that show loudness, levels, phase, frequency content and more across a session. Its new Intelligibility Meter helps check whether dialogue stays clear against the rest of a mix. The upgrade is aimed at mixing and mastering engineers, post-production teams and broadcast facilities that need accurate visual monitoring.

New Features and Metering Tools in Insight 2

The Intelligibility Meter is the main addition. It compares dialogue with the rest of the mix and lets you check results against different listening environments, from low to high noise. Insight 2 also adds a Spectrogram that displays audio on a 3D topographical plane and a Sound Field view for channel spread in stereo or surround.

Loudness targets cover EBU R128, BS.1770 and ATSC A/85, among others. Insight 2 now supports the Netflix loudness specification.

Layout, Resizing and Workflow Control

Insight 2 lets you choose which meters appear and resize each one within the main window. The window can shrink to the size of the smallest meter, which suits placing loudness meters on a secondary monitor. Several preset layouts are designed for specific post and music production tasks.

Level meters can show colored warnings, and the targets are emphasized for easier reading at a glance. iZotope Relay lets you route audio from any track or bus into Insight 2 for analysis, and Relay is included with the product.
