01Overview

Rattletines is built around three hand-crafted lamellophones created by instrument designer Bart Hopkin. Each instrument has its own rattle or buzz character, and every note carries a warm resonance. The library includes two stereo mic positions, tine plucks, percussive hand slaps on the instrument bodies, and a set of ambient effects and drones built from the raw acoustic sources. Sound and character of the tuned percussion

The instruments combine two rows of tines. The upper row hammers against anvils as it vibrates, adding a buzz to each note. The lower row is clean, giving a clearer tone. Mahogany and Hacksaw Blades both use tongues with holes and small pieces of metal wrapped through them. When plucked, the wrappings rattle as the tongue vibrates. Hacksaw Blades uses actual hacksaw blades for its tongues.

The library includes 7,952 stereo samples, totaling 3.23 GB installed, recorded in 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless NCW format for Kontakt.

Controls, FX rack and presets

The Kontakt interface offers automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, coarse and fine pitch, articulation switching, cross-fading and layering. An LFO system provides selectable shapes, targets, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time.

A customizable arpeggiator includes a velocity table and control over direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration. A key and scale lock constrains notes to chosen scales. The modular FX rack has 18 DSP modules across 10 slots, with a convolution reverb that includes 99 rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments plus 40 custom FX impulses. The library includes 5 master presets and 20 sound-designed FX and ambient presets.
