Hopkin Instrumentarium: Miago Trod – Lamellophone Kontakt Instrument

Miago Trod is built around a metal lamellophone whose upper and lower rod segments are tuned so that their overtones blend. Soundiron's sampled articulations include mallet strikes, hammer strikes, taps, bounces, slides, knocks and scrapes, so you can work with both tuned and untuned material.

Because the lower segment sits an octave below the upper one, striking either part gives the tone a mysterious, bassy quality. The library also includes sound-designed textures, pads and tones that move beyond the acoustic source for more abstract scoring.

The Kontakt interface exposes automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, coarse and fine pitch, articulation switching, cross-fading and layering. An adaptable LFO system offers selectable shapes, targets, tempo sync and fade-in time.

The modular FX rack provides 18 DSP modules that can be assigned to any of 10 slots in any order. The reverb section includes 99 convolution rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments, plus 40 custom FX impulses. An arpeggiator and a key and scale lock help with melodic writing.
