Harpsichord: Kontakt Instrument by Soundiron

The library is built on 3,448 stereo samples recorded at 24 bit / 48 kHz as uncompressed PCM WAV files. The Bridge and Soundboard microphone positions give you two distinct perspectives on the instrument. Soundiron sampled the piano and forte registers along with glisses, slides, percussive impacts, plucks, scrapes and taps, so you can work with articulations beyond standard keyed notes.

Beyond the raw instrument, the set includes 20 ambient pads and evolving drones made from the source recordings. These suit textural and cinematic work where the harpsichord's plucked character is processed into something less recognizable.

The Kontakt interface offers automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, coarse and fine pitch, articulation switching, cross-fading and layering. An adaptable LFO section provides selectable shape, target, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time.

A set of 12 lowpass, highpass and FX filters can be modulated by velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position and step-sequencer tables. The customizable arpeggiator adds velocity table control, direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration, and a key and scale lock keeps melodic ideas inside common scales. The modular FX rack provides 8 slots for 27 DSP modules, and the convolution reverb includes 99 rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments plus 40 custom FX impulses.
