01Overview

FilkChannel Strip MK2 is built around a set of preamps, EQs and compressors modeled on 1970s Danner modules. The developer describes it as a one-stop channel strip that covers light analog warmth on vocals, acoustic guitar and mix bus as well as gritty saturation on drums, bass and heavy guitars. The MK2 update adds four new modules, a drag-and-drop signal chain, in/out meters and a new interface.

Sound Character and Signal Chain

The first preamp moves between softer, warmer analog tones and aggressive harmonics and distortion, with a trim knob to offset the gain added by the input. The new second preamp is modeled on German radio engineering and offers two saturation modes, so each preamp can be set to a different character.

The signal chain is arranged by drag and drop across seven modular components, letting you reorder the modules to suit the source you are processing.

EQ and Compression Options

The strip includes three EQs. EQ I provides three parametric bands plus high-pass and low-pass filters, each ranging from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with shelf buttons for the high and low bands. EQ II adds an inductor-based midrange and input/output transformers, and EQ III is based on a German broadcast equalizer with a variable mid-band frequency.

For dynamics, COMP I is a fixed attack and release opto-style compressor with a variable ratio and dry/wet mix. COMP II is a VCA-style compressor with separately controlled compression and limiter options.
