Saturation Modes and Tonal Character
Distinct! has three mode buttons that set the type of saturation it produces. ODD generates third-order harmonics, which gives an edgier, grittier distortion. EVEN generates second-order harmonics for a smoother, richer tone. DIGT is a digital soft clipper, which the developer suggests is well suited to drums and mastering. This mode also adds some high mids to help the sound cut through.
The main Distort knob controls how much saturation or distortion is applied in the selected mode. Used at low settings, the plugin can warm up a sound, while higher settings push it toward fuzz bass tones, distorted vocal effects and aggressive synth textures.
