01Overview

Evolve Velvet Upgrade is aimed at users who already own Evolve Velvet Lite and want the full version of the instrument. Excite Audio describes the synth as built from vintage keyboards, intimate acoustic instruments and warm lo-fi textures, with sounds ranging from felt pianos and classic electric keyboards to strings and synths from the 1970s and 1980s. Four-Layer Sound Engine and XY Pad

Evolve Velvet Upgrade uses four sound sources, labeled A, B, C and D. Each layer can hold a sample-based instrument from a selection of 250 sources or a synth oscillator. You can also import your own samples to build a new sound or replace a source in an existing patch.

The XY Pad works in two modes. In Sounds mode it blends between the four sources. In FX mode it modulates any available parameter in the instrument. Randomise options for individual layers and for the whole plugin help you find starting points quickly.

Modulation, Filters and Macro Effects

The synth provides 12 modulation sources, including six envelopes with delay and hold, two LFOs with retrigger and offset options, velocity and keytracking with adjustable curves, and the XY Pad position. A modulation matrix lists all assigned routings.

Dual filters offer HPF, LPF, BP and Peak modes and can run in parallel or in series. Four macros, Soften, Warmth, Sway and Haze, shape the output, and a rearrangeable three-slot FX chain offers 16 effect types including delay, reverb, compressor and phaser.
