Re-amping, Saturation and Digital Damage

Excite Audio describes Expanse's core technique as re-amping, where a signal is played through amps, microphones and effects and then re-recorded. The Re-amp module offers speaker emulations ranging from small consumer devices and medium guitar cabinets to studio monitors and vintage recorders, with controls for age, drive, tone and mix.

The Dirt module covers saturation and distortion, from Tube and Tape warmth to Rectify and Fuzz. The Format module reduces bit depth and sample rate for grainy or harsh digital textures, and Flatten pairs a gate with a bitcrusher.

Stereo Width and Reverb Controls

The Width module offers Haas, Mid/Side, Detune and Mono modes for shaping the stereo field. The Space module provides four reverb algorithms: Plate, Hall, Spring and Slap. Slap can produce a single early reflection or a metallic feedback effect.

Because the modules can be placed anywhere in the chain, Space can work early as a pedal-style reverb or at the end of the chain as a larger environment.
