The plugin works in two parts: a Leader and a Follower. You load plugins onto the Leader, add a Follower on another track, and link the two with a single click. The Follower then copies all plugins and their settings from the Leader.

Adjustments made on the Leader are carried out on every linked Follower in real time, so you hear the combined effect of a change across the whole group. Each plugin in a Follower can still be bypassed individually, and Leader and Follower bypass modes are available.

The developer contrasts this with bussed or group effects. Each track gets the effect applied individually, which suits processing like auto-tune, where every vocal needs different corrections.

KSHMR Chain offers up to ten macro channels. You can assign any plugin parameter to a macro knob, then automate that single control in your DAW to affect all linked Follower tracks. A macro can combine parameters from several plugins.

The browser scans the plugins you own and groups them into categories such as Dynamics, Modulation and Reverb. You can create your own categories and store chain presets that hold multiple plugins with their settings, so a go-to vocal or bass chain can be recalled quickly and any plugin in it can be swapped out.
