Evolve Air Upgrade from Evolve Air Lite is an upgrade plugin from Excite Audio that adds sample and synth layers, a quad-layer engine and effects for ambient, atmospheric and cinematic sound design. It is intended for owners of Evolve Air Lite.
Evolve Air Upgrade is built around breathy textures, wind instruments, filtered noise and evolving pads. Its quad-layer engine lets each of four layers hold either a sample from a library of 250 sources or a synth oscillator, and you can import your own samples. An XY Pad morphs between sound sources or modulates parameters, while four macros, Mist, Drift, Frost and Cloud, add grain, movement, shimmer and reverb. The developer describes it as an upgrade for existing Evolve Air Lite owners.
Each of the four layers can run a sampled instrument or a synth oscillator. Sample sources offer play direction, tone and keytracking controls. Synth sources offer an oscillator shape slider with unison and detuning.
The library contains 250 sources across chords, hits and percussive sounds, instruments, multisamples, synths, textures and vocals. You can also import your own samples to start a new patch or replace a source in an existing one.
Twelve modulation sources include six ADSR envelopes with delay and hold, two LFOs with retrigger and offset options, velocity and keytracking with adjustable curves, and the XY Pad's X and Y positions. A modulation matrix lists all assigned routings.
The four macros shape the output. Mist adds noise for grain, Drift adds gentle pitch modulation, Frost adds a shimmering delay and Cloud adds a long, low-passed reverb. Three rearrangeable effects slots offer 16 effect types, including reverb, delay, saturation and phaser.
