01Overview

Delphi Piano #1: Autumn 1958 is the first volume in Soundiron's Delphi Piano series, with each volume built around a specific musical era of the 20th century. This one focuses on late 1950s piano. The developer says the character suits jazz, blues and big band, and also works in electronica, lo-fi, hip hop, ambient, postminimalism, contemporary classical and post-rock. The library ships as a single master Kontakt instrument bank, with custom presets and ambience patches that extend the sound beyond the core piano.

Piano Sound and Sampling Detail

The core instrument is a multi-sampled character piano with 9 velocity layers, 6 round robins, note releases and pedal sounds. The velocity layers and round robins are there to help repeated notes avoid sounding identical and to let playing dynamics shape the tone.

Beyond the piano itself, the library includes 30 ambience patches created from the source content, along with 20 custom sound-designed FX and ambient presets. These give you ready-made starting points that move from straight piano into textural territory.

Controls, Effects and Arpeggiator

The interface offers multi-layer controls with LFO, filter, glide and arpeggiator. Twelve lowpass, highpass and FX filters can be assigned to modulation sources such as velocity, mod wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position and step-sequencer table control.

The arpeggiator includes a velocity table and control over direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration. A key and scale lock system constrains notes to common scales and keys, which helps keep parts in key when you play freely.

The modular FX rack offers 18 DSP effect modules, including Classic Phaser, Flanger, Delay, Distortion, Amp and Cab simulators, Compressor, EQ and Rotator, assignable across 10 slots. The convolution reverb includes 99 rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments, plus 40 custom FX impulses.
