Automatic correction and target profiles
DeFilter estimates a correction filter that evens out the frequency spectrum of the input. You can choose a predefined target profile for music or speech, or use an automatic mode that extracts the overall timbre from the input signal. Acon Digital describes this mode as keeping the large tonal shape of the source while evening out narrow peaks and dips. The developer says this removes resonances and comb filter effects while preserving the tonal character of the input.
The correction length is adjustable from 1 to 20 milliseconds, and a frequency-emphasis filter controls how strongly the correction is applied.
