FabFilter Pro-Q 4: 24-Band Parametric EQ Plugin Free Download

Any Bell or Shelf band in Pro-Q 4 can be made dynamic, at any slope setting, with optional external side-chain triggering. The developer says the dynamic behavior is program dependent, with attack, release and knee responding to the processed audio and the band's frequency range.

Spectral dynamics is the new variation in this version. Instead of changing the gain of the whole band, it triggers only on specific frequencies within the band that exceed the threshold, leaving the rest of the band untouched. This suits varying resonances and problem frequencies.

For mid/side and left/right work, each band can process its signal separately, and a per-band Phase Invert option changes polarity. Fractional slope settings, such as a 3.5 dB/oct filter, are also available.

The large interactive display lets you create bands, select several at once and edit them together. Spectrum Grab lets you grab a peak directly in the real-time analyzer and adjust it. EQ Match can match the spectrum of another Pro-Q 3 instance or an external signal.

The instance list gives control of all Pro-Q 4 instances in a session from one window, and EQ Sketch lets you draw a starting curve in one gesture. Display ranges of 3 dB and 6 dB suit mastering, while 12 dB and 30 dB suit mixing. Piano display mode quantizes band frequencies to musical notes.
