01Overview

CinePerc is a percussion instrument library built for Kontakt by the developer Cinesamples. Its main feature is the Orchestral Percussion Ensemble patch, which gathers many of the library's instruments into a single setup. The developer says this gives producers a complete orchestral percussion palette under their fingers, which can speed up building percussion mockups. The library requires Kontakt, and it works with both the free Kontakt Player and the full version of Kontakt.

Orchestral Percussion Ensemble and Layout

The Orchestral Percussion Ensemble patch draws largely from the library's '01 ORCHESTRAL' folder. Cinesamples describes it as intuitively mapped, so that orchestral percussion parts can be sketched quickly.

The whole CinePerc instrument line has been remapped to follow one consistent layout. According to the developer, non-chromatic instruments are centered around middle C, so you know where to start playing as soon as an instrument loads.

Several instruments are also split into their own patches for clarity. Different mallet types and different snare drums each have a dedicated patch.

Requirements and Installation

CinePerc requires Kontakt 5.8.1 or later. The developer notes that it works with both the free Kontakt Player and the paid, full version of Kontakt.

Plan for a large download. The library needs at least 200 GB of free hard drive space during installation, and it takes up roughly 100 GB once installed. The listed minimum RAM is 4 GB, and Cinesamples recommends Kontakt 5.8.1 as the minimum version.

Version 1.3 is scripted for Native Instruments' Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) format, so it can be browsed and controlled through NKS-compatible hardware and software.
