Sound, Articulations and True Legato

The library includes deeply sampled solo patches for each instrument, with standard and Espressivo sustains that have smooth dynamics. Standard and Espressivo legatos are included, along with spiccato, staccato, marcato and pizzicato articulations at several dynamic levels.

The True Legato patches are built on a sampled set of intervals, both upward and downward, for each instrument. An adaptive legato engine detects playing speed and adjusts the interval speed to match, so slow, expressive lines and fast runs can be played in one performance. The intensity parameter responds to velocity.

Extra articulations include short spiccato for violin 1, violin 2 and viola, Bartok pizzicato for violin 2, viola and bass, and tremolos for violin 1, violin 2 and viola.

Mapping, Workflow and Requirements

The Mapping page provides velocity, key-switching and MIDI CC articulation switching. The new mapping system lets articulations be blended using polyphonic key-switching or overlapping velocity and CC ranges. The Accent Overlay adds a marcato, staccato or spiccato layer over sustain attacks, and Accented Legato applies the same layer to legato transitions.

The Mixer page gives access to the full mix or the three other microphone positions. A Chamber Ensemble patch maps the instruments across one keyboard, with ranges adjustable on the Settings tab.

The library runs in Kontakt, so you need the free Kontakt Player or the full version of Kontakt 5.3.1 or higher. It can be used from a sequencer such as Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools or GarageBand, or with notation software such as Sibelius or Finale.
