Legato, Bowing and Expression Controls

The Legato articulation uses the same Seamless Legato performance found across Cinesamples' solo string instruments. Playing a transition with a velocity over 110 triggers an upward portamento legato for minor third intervals through the octave, and additional programming extends legato beyond the octave.

Note Shaping adds a slower attack to lower-velocity notes for a more dynamic performance. The Bow setting switches between Taylor's natural bow changes on sustained notes and an extended bow length, where a quick re-attack creates a bow change on the same note. Legato Speed can follow your playing automatically or be set manually, and the setting is saved with the patch. The Mod Wheel controls general dynamics.

Articulations and Keyswitches

Keyswitches from C1 to F#1 select articulations, which can also be chosen from a dropdown menu. The list includes Legato, Sustains, Spiccato, Marcato (an elongated espressivo-style short), Pizz, Tenuto, Open Strings (sustains on the four open strings of the violin) and Reverb.

The Articulation Lock feature, located next to the articulation menu, removes the keyswitches and purges all other articulations from RAM when locked. An info icon in the top-right corner of the interface explains various functions.
