03In depth

Adaptive legato for melodic lines

Cinesamples applied its Adaptive Legato Engine, first used in CineStrings SOLO, to these patches. The engine detects your playing speed and adjusts the interval speed to match, so slow expressive lines and fast runs can sit in the same performance without changing the speed setting.

The VOLUME RANGE setting controls how much CC1 affects volume, which suits users who combine CC1 and CC11 or who rely on the mod wheel alone. The VEL / ATTACK function makes the attack of each note respond to velocity, with lower velocities producing slower attacks.

Timing control and articulation layers

Quantize Mode calculates the legato lag time and applies the same delay to non-legato samples. Developers at Cinesamples describe this as keeping note timings consistent, so a performance can be quantized and shifted left in the sequencer without uneven starts.

The Accent Overlay adds a staccato articulation over the attack of sustains. Turning on ACCENTED LEGATO applies this layer to the legato transitions as well.
