01Overview

CineBrass Pro is an orchestral brass expansion from Cinesamples, built to run inside Kontakt. Version 1.7 was rebuilt around the Cinesamples Adaptive Legato Engine, the same engine found in the company's CineStrings and CineWinds libraries. The developer says the engine detects your playing speed and adjusts the interval speed to match, so slow lines and fast runs can sit in one performance. The library is available as a VST2, AU, RTAS, standalone or Kontakt instrument on Windows and macOS.

Adaptive legato and expressive playing

The Adaptive Legato Engine is the main change in version 1.7. Cinesamples says it responds to your playing speed, so you do not need to keep adjusting a speed dial between passages. Cinesamples also states that the intensity parameter responds to velocity, which gives you a way to shape the legato response through your performance.

The Horns Ensemble Stopped and Fluttered patch has been split into two separate patches, Horn Ensemble Stopped and Horn Ensemble Fluttered, making each articulation easier to load on its own.

Mapping and articulation control

CineBrass Pro includes a new mapping tab for customizing articulations. Articulations can be blended together using polyphonic keyswitching or overlapping velocity and CC ranges. You can add articulations with the + Add Articulation + button and remove them with the X on the right.

The ACCENTED LEGATO control layers an additional articulation, such as Marcato, Staccato or Spiccato, over legato transitions. This suits composers who build custom articulation setups for their own workflow.
