Bamblong: Tuned Bamboo Mallet Percussion Library for Kontakt

Soundiron recorded Bamblong first in a close, dry studio setting to capture the warmth and tonality of each note. The developer says this dry version works well with any reverb or spatial effect, which gives you room to shape the space yourself.

A second set of recordings was made in a large glass and stone recording hall. This wet version has a bright, organic live sound and is intended for symphonic arrangements and for blending with other concert percussion.

Each note was deeply sampled with rubber mallets and jazz brushes, with up to 24 velocity layers and 10 round-robin variations per note. The notes are hand-tuned and spread across four octaves.

Brushed strikes produce a raspy texture, and the library also includes brush rolls with release samples. Micro-tuning and width controls let you adjust how the instrument sits in a mix, with width setting the stereo panning based on key position.
