01Overview

B-3 V models the tonewheel organ that has long been used in jazz, gospel, rock, reggae and R&B. Arturia builds the instrument with its physical modeling engine instead of recorded samples. The plugin includes a modeled rotary speaker, a set of effects and a convolution reverb. Its modulation section adds automated drawbar movement for animated, syncopated textures. Presets and MIDI mapping support quick setup for live or studio work.

Sound and Physical Modeling

B-3 V uses a physical modeling engine with no samples. Arturia says the model aims to reproduce the behavior of the original tonewheel design, including parameters such as drawbar leakage, tonewheel leakage, brilliance and background noise.

The instrument has two manuals, each with nine drawbars and its own MIDI channel setting. Upper and lower manuals can be switched on and off separately. Preamp drive and a swell pedal add further control over the sound and dynamics.

Rotary Speaker, Effects and Drawbar Modulation

A modeled rotary speaker emulator includes traditional Leslie performance controls. The output effects chain offers volume, wah and auto-wah, flanger, compressor, chorus and analog delay, and you can change the order of these effects.

The drawbar modulation section includes LFOs with multiple waveforms and phase, multipoint envelopes, a step sequencer and drawbar destinations with positive and negative amounts. A convolution reverb is also included.
