Ancient Greek Strings is built around seven stringed instruments from the historic roots of Western music, including the Barbiton, Cithara, Lyre, Goat Horn Lyre, Pandura, Phorminx and Trigonon. The library is delivered as one master NKI instrument bank for Kontakt. It combines close and far microphone positions, a set of plucks, picks, mutes, staccato and effect articulations, and 20 sound-designed ambient patches. Its Kontakt interface adds LFO, filter, glide and arpeggiator controls for working with the strings in a modern production setting.

Sound Sources and Articulations

The library contains 15,158 stereo WAV files recorded at 24 bit / 48 kHz. Each of the seven instruments is sampled with finger plucks, picks, mutes, staccato and effect articulations. Samples are captured in close and far microphone positions, so you can choose between a direct, detailed sound and a more spacious one.

The library totals 8.23 GB installed, so plan storage space before installing. Kontakt is required to run the instrument.

Kontakt Controls, Effects and Presets

The interface offers multi-layer controls and an LFO with selectable shape, target, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. You can apply 12 lowpass, highpass and FX filters, and an arpeggiator with velocity table, direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration controls.

The modular FX rack provides up to 10 slots for 18 effect modules, and its convolution reverb includes 99 rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments plus 40 custom FX impulses. The library also includes 20 custom sound-designed FX and ambient presets.
