Sound Modeling and Signal Chain

IK Multimedia describes AmpliTube 5 as built on its Dynamic Response Modeling, with DSM and VRM technologies intended to reproduce the response and feel of real gear across the whole signal chain. The power amp section has been redesigned for both new and legacy gear, with impedance matching.

The signal chain uses drag-and-drop creation with custom routing, so effects can be arranged in series or in parallel. The stereo signal path means the chain can be used with drums, keyboards and vocals as well as guitar and bass.

Cabinets, Mics and Workflow

The cabinet section uses the VIR Volumetric Impulse Response engine. Up to 31 individual speaker models are available, and on 12-inch speaker models the speakers can be swapped between cabinet positions. Two movable cab mics and two movable ambient mics let you position the sound precisely.

The upgrade also includes a custom impulse response loader and editor, which accepts up to 2,400 impulse responses per cabinet. Live performance mode supports preset switching via MIDI in the standalone version, and the plugin supports DAW automation, BPM sync and sample rates up to 192 kHz.
